The Fed has already published its 2027 schedule. In its words, each meeting date is tentative until confirmed at the meeting before it. It has also scheduled a two-day meeting for January 25-26, 2028.
The moon column is our thing: it shows the real moon phase on each date (at noon UTC). It's there because we like it, not because the moon moves prices.
What happens at an FOMC meeting
The Federal Open Market Committee is the group at the Fed that sets US interest rates. It meets eight times a year, over two days. On the second day at 2:00 pm ET it puts out a statement saying whether rates go up, down, or stay put. The Fed Chair then holds a press conference, and that often moves markets as much as the decision itself.
Which meetings have the dot plot
Four of the eight meetings come with a Summary of Economic Projections. That includes the "dot plot", where each official marks where they think rates should be over the next few years. In 2026 those are March, June, September and December. In 2027 they're March, June, September and December again. These meetings tend to get more attention because they show where the Fed thinks it's headed, not just what it did today.
Why crypto cares
Rates set the price of money. When the Fed is cutting, or hints that it will, cash gets cheaper and people tend to take more risk, and crypto is one of the first places that shows up. When it's hiking or sounds tougher than expected, the reverse usually happens. Bitcoin often moves sharply in the minutes after 2:00 pm ET and again during the press conference. None of that is guaranteed, but it's why these are some of the busiest afternoons on the crypto calendar.
The inflation numbers the Fed watches come out a couple of weeks before each meeting. See the CPI release dates, plus the token unlock schedule.
